William R. “Bill” Arts, 44, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Appleton Medical Center, with family by his side.

Bill was born in Escanaba on May 7, 1970, the son of Fred Arts and Debbie (Plave) Johnson.

He was a 1988 graduate of Escanaba High School. Bill obtained an associates degree in Water Technology from Bay College and most recently worked as a computer hardware technician. Bill married Teresa Gustafson on August 14, 1999 at St. Patrick’s Church in Escanaba and they have resided in the Appleton area for the past 20 years.

Bill had a passion for traveling, hiking, and sports. He enjoyed landscaping and home improvement projects. He mostly loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; parents, Fred Arts of Escanaba and Debbie (Mark) Johnson of St. Johns, MI; sister, Stephanie Arts of Escanaba; brother, Cory (Bethany) Arts of St. Johns, MI; paternal grandmother, Shirley Arts of Wells; mother-in-law, Ruth Gustafson of Escanaba; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 9:00 to 11:30 am at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon at St. Anne’s Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating and Deacon Mike LeBeau assisting. A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday, October 6.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Arts family.

    Please accept my deepest sympathy, a parent should never have to bury a child.
    May the Angels lead him into paradise; may the martyrs greet him at hi arrival and lead yhim into the holy city, Jerusalem.

  2. Debbie and family, thoughts and prayers to all of you during this difficult time. While the Angels in heaven are rejoicing in Bill’s homecoming, may God give you peace and comfort in the days and months ahead.

  3. Bill was the best brother I could have ever asked for. We always shared stories, memories and many laughs when we got together. I will miss him dearly. I pray that my family gets through this very difficult time. I love you all unconditionally.

  6. I am so sorry to hear of Bill’s death. Definitely way to soon for such a great guy to leave this world. Teresa, sweet girl, I pray God will give you strength through this hard time. He is definitely in a better place and in no pain and at peace. I wish we could be there to celebrate his life with you and give you BIG HUGS….   7. I was terribly saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a great person and I have so many fond memories of him and his vibrant personality from when we worked together at the store in Escanaba. May all of his family and friends take comfort knowing that he is in a better place.
