Violet Hahn

Violet Hahn, 98, N15995 Main Street, Powers, formerly of Schaffer, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

She was born on February 18, 1916 in Perronville, daughter of Martin and Alexandra Gonsowski. Violet was raised and attended grade school in Perronville and instead of going to high school, she worked on at her parent’s dairy farm.

On June 10, 1936, Violet married Frank Hahn at St. Michael’s Church in Perronville and they made their home and farmed in Schaffer.

Helping out her neighbors continued to be a part of Violet’s daily life. She baby sat for neighbor’s children whenever it was needed.

She enjoyed spending time playing bingo, happy hour, having visitors and going to mass. Violet was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Among survivors include two sons, John (Sue) Hahn of Wilson and Don (Kathy) Hahn of Bark River; daughter, Mary Hanson of Escanaba; special niece, Anna Novak of Perronville; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frank; she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; sisters, Mary and Anna; and brother, James.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 23rd from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer.
