Shirley A. Hoholik, 74, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at her home.

She was born in Manistique on August 30, 1940, daughter of the late Otto W. and Anna M. (Marks) Christensen.

Shirley married Sherwood Hoholik on December 22, 1962 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique.

She received her high school diploma from Escanaba High School in 1966.

Shirley enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, camping, decorating for all of the holidays, and tending to her tomato plants. She loved to prepare meals for her family spend time with her grandchildren, and especially her great grandson, Jayden. Shirley’s faith in God was very important to her.

She was a member of Christian Women’s Club and St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Church.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Sherwood; daughters, Sarah (Anthony) Morrison of Gladstone and Sandra (Joseph) Parr of Escanaba; brother, Harry (Beverly) Christensen of Waukesha, WI; grandchildren, Heather Hoholik, Christopher (Chrissy) Parr, Amber Morrison, Stephen Morrison, Anna Morrison, Katelyn Morrison, Kristen Morrison, and Nathaniel Morrison; great grandson, Jayden; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gloria Jean Halvorson; and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Eric Olson officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Hoholik family.

  1. Sherwood, Sarah, Sandy and all the family. We are so very sorry for your loss. I have loved Shirley and always will. My memories of her will always stay close in my heart. She has always been a wonderful sister-in-law to me. We are praying for you as you go through this and in the days to come. She is at peace now with our Lord. Love you.

  2. Sherwood, and all the family, Ginny and I are so sorry for your loss of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She and Sherwood were our best friends when we lived across the street from them. We have been praying for her for several months but the Lord wanted her Home where she would be free of pain and suffering and being with her Lord and Savior! God Bless you all, we will continue praying for the entire family. We love you all!

    Melody and I are deeply saddened by the passing of your mother. Having lost my parents, though both are in the presence of Jesus, is a difficult part of life. We know that the Holy Spirit is able to comfort and keep you during this time.
