Sharon May Sinclair-Wallner, 77, died on April 24 from a rare form of ocular cancer. Since her diagnosis in 2015, she bravely submitted herself to numerous clinical trials to aid researchers to find a cure. She leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Richard Albert Wallner; her children Barry Upshaw (Anne-Mette) and Bridget Upshaw; her husband’s children, Christopher Wallner (Anne), Patricia Keller (Happy), and John Wallner (Shannon); and six grandchildren, Isabella Helena Upshaw (9) and Sean Kristian Upshaw (14), Emily Brandt Wallner (18) and Jack William Wallner (22), Matthew Christopher Wallner (23) and Kathryn Wallner (25).
Sharon was born in Racine, WI, on May 9, 1941, to Joseph and Beatrice Volgot. She spent her childhood in Spalding, MI, and her youth in San Diego, CA. Sharon earned two graduate degrees, both Magna Cum Laude. One was in organizational development, from Notre Dame de Namur, and the second in human relations from Golden Gate University. Sharon retired from her 25-year career at Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. as program acquisition manager in the Palo Alto Research and Development Laboratories.
Sharon and Richard lived in Belmont, CA, through most of their married life. Upon retirement, they moved to the Ocean Colony community in Half Moon Bay. Sharon was a talented artist, voracious reader, a tolerant sailor and an avid world traveler alongside her beloved. Sharon was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was known for her generous spirit and radiant beauty. Sharon’s primary passion in her retirement was the love, care and nurturing of all her grandchildren to enrich their minds and spirits with a curiosity for science, art, music and travel – and steer their appetites toward a passion for hot fudge sundaes and vanilla malts with their Grandma.
Sharon entered hospice care in April with Mission House, Woodside, where she passed away peacefully. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Volgot (1917-1957) and Beatrice Paupore (later known as Sheri Marie North) (1920-1990) and brother, Barry Volgot (1943-1949).
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 8th from 10 – 11 a.m. (Central Time) at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jacek Wtyklo officiating.
