Ruth D. Gorecki, 87, from Escanaba (formerly of Harris, MI) passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 9, 2019 after a brief illness.

Ruth was born in Hardwood, MI on March 28, 1932 daughter of August and Edna (Rugg) Schultz.  She spent her early years in LaBranche and graduated from Powers Spalding High School.  Ruth married Charles Gorecki in June of 1950 and they celebrated 63 years of marriage.  Together they raised five children on their family farm in Harris, MI.  They retired from farming in 1982 but Ruth continued to work at Bark River-Harris Schools as a cook, retiring in 1994 with 25 years of service.

Ruth enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, reading and puzzles.  She loved the outdoors, picking berries and wild mushrooms, playing cards with her family and just spending time with her identical twin sister Rose.  She made many quilts for her children and grandchildren.  Her favorite hobby was deer hunting.  Ruth had 50 successful years, shooting her last buck at age 82.  Ruth and Charlie traveled to 48 states with her sister Rose and Stanley Gaber.

She is survived by her twin sister Rose Gaber; children Jean (Leonard) Lindquist, Kathleen (Daniel) DeGrand, Randy (Dawn) Gorecki, Connie (David) LeBoeuf and Chuck (Beverly) Gorecki;  grandchildren Colleen (Bill) Schmitt, Leonard (Mary) Lindquist, Kris (Tom) Wiater, Sarah (Andy) Johnson, Luke DeGrand, Melissa (Shane) Anderson, Amy (Rob) Grossman, Joe (Billy) Gorecki and Amanda and Austin Gorecki;  step-grandchildren  Jonathan (Shelly) Barra, Benjamin (Niki) Barra and Rachel and Alyson Barra;  great-grandchildren Will, Hunter and Dane Schmitt, Graham and Griffin Johnson, Saige Grossman, Aiden Anderson, Paxton and Aurelia Barra and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; and siblings Gertrude Gedvick, Valerie Gaber, Shirley Luchay, Betty Vaness and Bill Schultz.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12th at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with Reverend Christine Bergquist officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bark River Township Cemetery.
