Russell W. Cryderman, 83, of Bark River, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born on September 30, 1932 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, son of Russell and Ursela (Kennedy) Cryderman. Russell was raised in Sault Ste. Marie and attended school in Dafter.
On May 16, 1959, Russell married Mary Ann Marble at St. Isaac Jacques Church in Sault Ste. Marie. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2012.
Russell served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Russell attended the Honor Flight Mission in 2014 with his son, Randy.
In 1968, Russell and Mary Ann moved to Bark River and Russell worked construction and was a concrete finisher. He also drove semi hauling steel until his retirement in 1997.
Russell enjoyed horse and pony pulling, shooting and baking bread.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and was a supporter of the NRA.
Among survivors include his children, Marcia (Terry) Goetz of Sault Ste. Marie, Russell (Tina) Cryderman of Escanaba, Ron (Cynthia) Cryderman of Appleton, Randy (Jude) Cryderman of Tenio, WA, Rob (Vicky) Cryderman of Powers, Manny Marble of Sault Ste. Marie, Rick (Carolyn) Cryderman of Gladstone and Rod Cryderman of Bark River; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Cobb of Sault Ste. Marie, Anne Goetz of Dafter, Lillian Holt of Sault Ste. Marie and Theresa Cryderman of Pickford; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mary Ann, Russell was preceded in death by siblings, Forrest Cryderman, Ethel Cottelit, Gert Lehigh, Valee Cryderman and Evie Cryderman.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Bark River Rheaume-Knauf American Legion Post 438 will have military rites at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Russell’s name to the Honor Flight.
