Died January 10th, 2013

Rosalie Marie “Rose” Blahnik, 94, of Perronville, passed away Tuesday morning, December 10, 2013 at her home.

She was born on May 13, 1919 in Ashland, WI, the daughter of the late Matthew and Catherine Margetta.

On August 30, 1940, Rose was the first sister of three to marry the first brother of three when she wed James Blahnik in Ashland, WI. Together they raised eight children and still made time to step out and go dancing, which she loved to do in her younger years.

In 1945, Rose settled into the dairy farming life. She was able to work the earth and produce beautiful gardens of vegetables and fruit. She canned everything and her basement was filled with a colorful array of filled jars for winter every year.

Faith was important to Rose seeing to her children’s attendance at Sunday mass and teaching them their prayers in their younger years.

Rose was the soft hearted force behind her family seeing to everything that needed tending. She saw to the time management of meals, kids, helping out neighbors and praying her rosary daily, and helping Jim with cow milking during hay season.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking and baking. She never “met” a dessert recipe she couldn’t make. Rose also enjoyed the pleasure of her kids visits and grandkids hugs and great grandkids sweet kisses.

Rose was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She enjoyed the visits of Rev. Darryl Pepin and Deacon Mike LeBeau. She is survivied by sons, James (Darlene) of Wilson, Edward (Irene) of Perronville, John (JoAnn) of Gross Point Farm, MI, Patrick of Perronville, Wayne (Cindy) of Gladstone; daughters, Linda (Lenny) Nord of Perronville and Jan (Bill) Bower of Bark River. In addition, Rose is survived by 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Other survivors include brother-in-law, Richard; cousin, Hermand; many nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her special son, Gregory and her much missed husband, James.
