Romeo A. Groleau, 92, of Wilson (Gourley Twp.), passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Escanaba on July 22, 1927, son of Ernest and Aline (Sturgeon) Groleau. He was raised in the St. Jacques area and resided in Gourley Twp. for 53 years.
Romeo was employed as a sheet metal worker for Local Union 94 until his retirement in 1982.
He joined the Army in 1945 then was transferred to the Air Force where he was a crew chief and obtained the rank of Sargent.
Romeo loved working in his shop and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
He was a member of Wilson Seventh Day Adventist Church and lifetime member of Rapid River Post 301.
Among survivors are his wife, Irene of Wilson; children, Susan (Edward) Jenkins of Carney, Michael (Debbie) and Jonathan all of Wilson; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and sister Rose Derouin of Muskegon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey; two sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will take place in the spring in Wilson Seventh Day Adventist cemetery.
