Robert Leroy Macabee went to the spirit in the sky October 6, 2017.
Bob was born May 4, 1934 and was raised in the Upper Peninsula area by his parents Frank and Rose (Clautier) Macabee.
In his adult life, Bob joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1952 and also married Shirley Tessmer. They would have been married 65 years November 2017. Bob served as ordinary seaman coal shoveler for two years. He then was drafted into the U.S. Army with an engineering company and served two years.
Later in life they moved to Hinsdale Illinois where they lived for thirty years. Bob had many different occupations during his life. He loved to travel, sing and dine out.
Upon retirement they moved to the Escanaba area where Bob became a member of the American Legion and Tribal Elder. Bob loved garage sales, flea markets, pow- wow’s, and continued to travel with family and friends.
Among survivors are; special nephew, Robert Beaudry; brother in law, Fred (Nancy) Tessmer; sisters in law, Roberta Nipp, Nancy Kornita and Darlene Kvaca; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Heather, Tara, Ernie Demmon and Richard Gaffney.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Tessmer) Macabee; parents, Frank and Rose (Clautier) Macabee; brother, Frank (Bud) Macabee; sisters, Doris Beaudry and Eva (Henry) Grondin; and brother in law, Steve Tessmer.
A small graveside service is planned for Saturday October 14, 2017 at the Ford River cemetery at 1 p.m. (EDT) on Hyde road cutoff. Following the service a luncheon will be served at The Ford River Pub & Grill E4560 Hwy M-35, Escanaba, MI.
