Rita Ann DuFour, 88, of Escanaba, passed away at Bishop Noa Home on Monday, November 25, 2013.
She was born on August 3, 1925, in Escanaba, the daughter of John and Delia (Peshek) VandeWiele.
Rita graduated from St. Joseph High School.
On February 9, 1946, Rita married Thomas DuFour at the St. Joseph Church in Escanaba.
Rita worked for Michigan Bell Telephone for 30 years as an operator and retired in July of 1978.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Rita is survived by her son, Terry DuFour of Escanaba; grandsons, Joseph DuFour of Gladstone, Brian (Candace) DuFour of North Carolina; great granddaughters, Maddy and Alisha DuFour of North Carolina; sister-in-law Maryanne DuFour of Escanaba; daughter-in-law, Joanie DuFour Family of Escanaba; special niece, Jean (Wayne) Anderson of Ford River, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; son, Thomas, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Susan; grandson, Thomas; brother, John E. (Marge) VandeWiele; sister, Louise (Bob) Casey of Escanaba; brother-in-law, Robert DuFour.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba with the service to follow at noon officiated by Rev. Eric Olson.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the DuFour family.
