Richard F. LaCrosse

Richard F. LaCrosse, 80, Cedar River, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Christian Park Health Care Center.

He was born in Escanaba on September 4, 1935, son of the late Henry and Marie (Trombley) LaCrosse.

On October 24, 1956, Richard married Barbara Martinson at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Chicago Northwestern Railroad until his retirement in 1995.

Richard resided in Illinois for 42 years until he moved to Cedar River in 1995.

Richard enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and dog sledding. He also enjoyed creating wood carvings.

He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughters, Ramona (Jim) Fourthman of Arkansas and Judith LaCrosse of Escanaba; sons, Richard (Jomay) LaCrosse of Oxford, WI, and Craig (Anna) LaCrosse of Peshtigo, WI; sister, Elvera Skorupski of Flat Rock; brother, Dennis (Gloria) LaCrosse of Brampton; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Sampson.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sharon Wajda, Rose Decent, Marcella LaCrosse; and brother, Duane LaCrosse.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 5 p.m. with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the LaCrosse family.

  1. Our prayers are with you Barb during this difficult time. You and Dick have always been kind, caring and thoughful. So sorry to hear of his passing. He and his smile will be deeply missed.

  3. My heart is breaking right now. I haven’t seen you, sadly, in many years. You were an awesome man, and my childhood memories of the whole family together are many and wonderful. I cherish them and always keep my family close to my heart. You are a great loss and greatly missed.
