Quentin “Shawnigabowen” L. Shawano

Quentin L. “Shawnigabowen” Shawano, (aka Cochise, Windwalker, Indian Uncle, Uncle Manybraids and so many other nicknames), 65, of Wilson, passed away on Thursday morning, May 30, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

He was born on September 3, 1953 in Neopit, WI, son of Harry and Lavina (Nahwahquaw) Shawano.

Quentin was raised in Neopit, WI and has resided in Hannahville for 12 years.

He loved nature, hunting, fishing, hiking and visiting family and friends.

He enjoyed outdoor work and did landscaping, greenhouses and also as a carpenter for Hannahville Community.

Quentin was awesome at making native crafts and feather bustles.

Among survivors include his significant other, Rosalind Wandahsega and her children, Manitoubani Wandahsega, Elizabeth DeCota, Alicia DeCota and John DeCota Jr. all of Hannahville; son, Nathan Shawano; daughters, Regina (Michael Waubanascum) Boychief and Taylor (Justin) Haack; grandchildren, Shanyce Shawano, Ceyenna Boychief, Mequon Jackson, KcheZhawno Shawano, Tthigwe Jackson, Kailani Shawano Shondreya Shawano, Lili Haack, Dayton Shawano and Clare Shawano; siblings, Gary Shawano, Gwendolyn Shawano, Linette Shawano, Jerilyn Manzie Waupoose, Tina Shawano and Verna (Dan) Reiter.

He was preceded in death by children, Paheesh “Leon” Shawano and Cheebahnasa “Shawn “Shawano; and siblings, Alberta Hatmaker and Jerry Shawano.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 1st beginning at 4 p.m. at the Hannahville Community Center with the funeral service to follow on Sunday at 10 a.m.  Burial will take place in the Hannahville Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
