On March 18th, 2020 Paul Edward LaChance Sr., 77, of Gwinn, lost his battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord.
Paul was born on April 28th, 1942 in Negaunee, to the late Delore and Bertha (Hiironen) LaChance. As a youth, Paul excelled at Hockey but as with the rest of his life enjoyed all types of sports. After graduating from Holy Rosary High School in Saginaw, MI, Paul spent time in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After returning from the Army, Paul worked in construction as a carpenter his entire working career for various companies in Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada until his retirement in 2010.
On May 17, 1991, Paul married Joyce Sneed in Las Vegas, NV.
Paul was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and the Michigan State Spartans.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Gwinn; son, Paul “Chopper” (Jennifer) LaChance of Escanaba; step daughter, Sherri (DeWayne) Braden of Fernley, NV; step son, Marc (Julie) Nixon of Provo, UT; grandchildren, Bon LaChance, Hunter Gasman, Jennifer King, Travis Scott and Kristie Roscoe; seven great grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Robert) Palade; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice (Francis) Fryczynski and Doris “Betty” (Jerry) Zaborowske, and nephews Willy Zaborowske and Joseph Palade.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Bakkala Cemetery in Forsyth, MI.
