Patricia “Pat” L. (Brayak) Mikolajczyk

Patricia “Pat” L. (Brayak) Mikolajczyk, 84, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Bishop Noa Home.

She was born on May 24, 1934 in Escanaba, daughter to Norman and Mildred (Magneson) Ellingsen.  Pat graduated from Escanaba High School and moved to Detroit for a year before returning back to Escanaba.

In the 1950’s Pat worked for Harnischfeger where she met her husband, Nicholas Brayak Jr.  They were married in 1956 at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba.  Together they raised their two sons, Chris and Jon.  He preceded her in death in 1979.

Pat took pride in her role as a homemaker and mother, she also worked for Sears in their catalog department for a brief time.

She loved to crochet, knit and sew many items including her son’s clothing, Halloween costumes and hats.  Pat had a good sense of humor which will always be remembered fondly.

Pat and her family were members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church for many years.

In 1986, Pat married Richard Mikolajczyk in Norway.  During their marriage, they resided in Vulcan until he preceded her in death in 2012.

Among survivors include her two sons, Chris Brayak of Buchanan, MI and Jon (Lori) Brayak of Bark River; grandchildren, Samantha Roselle (Blake) Frost, Anna Marie Brayak, Nicholas Joseph (Patti) Brayak and Kelly Jo Brayak; two great grandchildren, Gavin Jon and Sawyer John; brother, Charles “Micky” Ellingson of Palo Alto, Ca; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Ellingsen.

A celebration of her life will take place this summer.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery next to her first husband, Nicholas.

    Sorry to hear about your mom passing away. We really didn’t know her but we know all of you. Sending hugs and prayers to all of you in this difficult time.
    Remember that she is now in Heaven with your dad and the both of them are keeping watch on all of you.
