Patricia Ann Jones

Resided in Menominee, Michigan
Died April 12th, 2020

Patricia “Pat” Ann Jones, 74, formally of Escanaba died Easter morning April 12,2020 with her daughter by her side at Menominee Health Care Service Nursing Facility where she resided since November.

She was born April 21,1945 in Escanaba to Robert and Bernice (Nantelle) Jones. She grew up in a full house with four beloved siblings, Richard, Bobby, Jimmy and Mary “Murph”.  Pat graduated from Holy Name Catholic School in 1963.

She was a hairdresser by profession for nearly 45 years. During that time, she worked at My Ladies Beauty Shop, Take Two and Talk of the Town. In her working years, Pat made many wonderful friendships and took pride in her work.

She was a proud member of the community and spent many years volunteering. Pat spent a lot of her time mentoring the younger generations. She was heavily involved with the Girl Scouts as a troop leader. She had many fond memories educating young girls including her daughter how to build confidence, practice life skills and make the world a better place. She was recognized within the community for her devotion and dedication.

She was a woman of faith. She devoted her time to the church teaching CCD classes for many years at St. Patrick’s Church and was also a member of the choir. Music was a big part of her life; she loved to sing, especially during Christmas which was her favorite time.

She was a huge Elvis and Green Bay Packer fan.

Later in life she was involved with the Woman’s Wise Club and set a great example by setting and meeting goals to improve her life.

Over the years she had many hobbies. She loved fishing, crafts, knitting and creating flower centerpieces. Pat could make something out of nothing and lovingly made homemade Christmas stockings for her nieces and nephews. Gardening was also a huge part of her life and every year she looked forward to the smell of her favorite lily of the valley and the blooming of her colorful poppies.

Her family recognizes her most for her baking skills and memories of handmade birthday cakes. After years of practice she finally let her daughter in on a few secrets and those recipes and traditions are carried on.

She was the proud mother to her only daughter, Michele. She was the love of her life and the bond between them will be forever.

Her grandchildren filled her life with such joy and love. She was always there for them. Her great grandchildren were the apple of her eye and cherished every moment she could be with them.

She loved life and spending time with her many friends and family. There was not many people she could pass up without recognizing. She was known by many as a generous, kind sweet, thoughtful and caring woman. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her only daughter, Michele Swanson (significant other, Chris Wood); grandchildren, Tyler (Jenn) Clement and Tiffany Swanson along with her great grandchildren, Zeke Clement and Harper Gamelin all from Menominee; and siblings, Richard (Dee) Jones of San Jose, CA  Robert (Tonya) Jones of Escanaba, MI,  James (Melissa) Jones of Los Banos, CA and Mary Paulin of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.  She also leaves behind 17 nieces and nephews who were dear to her.

A celebration of Pat’s life will take place and will be announced at a later date.  She will be buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.

  3. Michele, Tyler and Tiffany and family, We want you to know how sad we are in the passing of your Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and friend. It is such an emotional time no matter the situation of death that one sometime comes face to face with. It is times like this that are so needed to know that God is there by your side assisting you. You already know that family members and friends are there in support of you and the family. Pat will be missed as we both have come to know and love her through many memories: family times, picnics, weddings, her coming to visit Grandpa Jones when we lived in Cornell, or when she came up to our home in Quinnesec. Mom will miss hearing Pat’s greeting, “hello Jean the Bean”. I will always remember my visit with her at her home in Escanaba during my teaching days . She poured the coffee, shared some homemade cookies, and then we would visit, sometimes joined by friend Judy. My what conversations we would have, lots of entertainment. We are thinking of you all and praying that you feel the comforting arms of Jesus surrounding you all. Love you, Jean and Mark Rose
