Died August 21st, 2016

Patricia A. ”Pat” Wickstrom, 77, of Bark River, finished her earthy journey and moved gently into the blessed assurance of eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by loving family and friends, on Sunday, August 21, 2016.

Pat was born on March 17, 1939 in Escanaba to Myron and Fern (Metiever) Nelson. Following a divorce, Fern married John Duncan, Pat’s stepfather, who raised her and her siblings, Nyle and Jerome “Jerry” Nelson and John Duncan.

Pat graduated from Holy Name High School in 1957, and was joined in marriage to Robert “Bob” Wickstrom on October 8, 1960. They resided in south Bark River and raised their three sons, Rob, Lenny and Kenny. Bob was the love of her life and her companion. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2014.

She worked at and Escanaba Steam Laundry, Teals Tree Farms, and Teal’s Supply for 34 years, retiring on December 31, 2004.

Pat was a dedicated member of the Bark River United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, served as secretary of various committees and was an active UMW member. She extended her gift of hospitality to the Faith Nibblers’ home bible–study group, with her beautifully set table and delicious desserts.

She was involved with the Bark River TOPS group for 41 years, serving as weight recorder, and attending the state and Area Rally Day workshops. She achieved many badges and pins for her accomplishments and attendance.

Pat also enjoyed women’s bowling league for many years, church dart ball, and was an avid Packer fan. Pat took a Kaleidescope of pictures of sunrises and sunsets.

All who had the privilege of knowing Pat were blessed with her friendship. Special friends, Rosie, Sandy, Bev, Bess, and Mary will especially miss her presence, phones calls and visits.

Pat enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lavished love and gifts on many children in the parish, as well.

Among her survivors include her sons, Robert A. (Dawn) Wickstrom of Escanaba, Kenneth E. Wickstrom of Escanaba, and Leonard C. (Sandra) Wickstrom of Menominee; grandchildren, Ryan, Jason and Alyssa Wickstrom of Escanaba and Whitney Wickstrom of Menominee; five step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

  1. I say this with a heavy heart. TOPS MI 1515 Bark River lost a great friend a few days ago to cancer. Pat Wickstrom joined TOPS in May of 1970. She has been the Weight Recorder for over 40 years. She was a KOPS in black for the last two years. She was recognized for being a true inspiration to us all for at least the last 5 years. And just like the pledge she said each week I know she will be waiting for you, you, and you.

  2. Robbie, Kenny & Lenny, I am so sorry to here of the passing of your Mom. I’ve known your Family for 48 years. Your Mom always had a smile on her face.
