Norbert James Beauchamp

Norbert James Beauchamp 85, of Bark River, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at Cedar Hill Assisted Living surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 23, 1934, son of Wilfred and Mary (DePuydt) Beauchamp.

In 1951, Norbert enlisted in the Army, serving in the Korean Conflict, until his honorable discharge in 1954.

On October 8, 1955, Norbert married Marilyn Jean DeRouin in Holland MI. Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage and raised their 5 children. Marilyn preceded him in death on May 24, 2012.

Norbert loved to go to all the local stock car races and to watch NASCAR races. He enjoyed hunting and ice fishing.  He enjoyed anytime the entire family could be together, he cherished family gatherings.

Over the years Norbert worked construction as a heavy equipment operator and also drove semitruck.

He was a member of Local Union Operating Engineers, V.F.W. and St. Anne’s Church.

Norbert is survived by his children, Connie (Randy) Stoykovich of Manistee, MI, Sheree (Bob) Smith of Bark River, MI, Steve (Mary) Beauchamp of Rhinelander, WI,  and David (Debbie) Beauchamp of Iron Mountain, MI; eleven grandchildren, Jodi, Stacie, Sonja, Brock, Brent, Kevin, Chad, Nicole, Josh, Mark and Tyler; six great grandchildren, Kendelyne, Aiden, Knox, Josie, Jonah and Harper Mae; brothers, Richard “Dick” Beauchamp of Flat Rock, Dennis (Sandy) Beauchamp, Duane (Sandy) Beauchamp and Terry (Karen) Beauchamp all of Escanaba; sisters, Marilyn Matthys  of Soo Hill, Joyce (Keith) VanDrese of Cornell and Sharon (Doug) Sharkey of Perkins; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn; daughter, Denise Beauchamp; and brothers, Bob and Don.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 1236 Old US 41, Bark River from 3 to 6 p.m. The Bark River Legion Post 438 and the Michigan Army National Guard will have military rites at 5:45 p.m.  The funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the family and a memorial will be established at a later date.
