Martin G. Siegwart, 56, of Boon, MI, formerly the pastor of Northwoods Baptist Church of Gladstone, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015.
He was born in Pontiac, MI on June 16, 1958, the son of Keith and Donna (Caples) Siegwart.
Martin was raised in Pontiac, and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1976.
He served his country in the United States Air Force and also in the National Guard.
Martin attended Schoolcraft College of Livonia, MI, where he majored in biomedical electrical engineering. He also attended Hyles-Anderson Bible College of Crown Point, IN.
On October 2, 1982, Martin married Mary Beth Crowell at Parr Memorial Baptist Church in Petoskey, MI.
He worked as a carpenter along side his father for 20 years and for the past 20 years worked as an independent master plumber.
Martin was a man of great faith and has served as a pastor for many years. He opened Northwoods Baptist Church in Gladstone in 1996 and was currently serving as the pastor at Boon Baptist Church of Boon, MI.
He loved to work along side his wife on missions and at church. He also loved to spend time with his children. Martin shared his passion for flying with all three of his children who are also pilots.
He was the manager of Eagles’ Landing Airport in Harrietta, MI. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the National Rifle Association.
Martin was greatly loved, and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth; daughter, Melissa (Brady) LeDuc of Gladstone; sons, Matthew (Kathryn) Siegwart of Gladstone and Mark (Laura) Siegwart of Hammond, IN; sisters, Virginia Siegwart and Beverly (Doug) Robinson; brothers, Steve (Cathy) Siegwart, Fred (Mary) Siegwart, Harold Siegwart; four grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and Luke Siegwart and Reagan LeDuc; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Gottlieb Siegwart.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northwoods Baptist Church in Flat Rock. Delta County Veterans Council will hold military rites at 12:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at church officiated by Martin’s son, Pastor Matthew Siegwart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martin’s name to Northwoods Baptist Church, 3920 Co. 416 20th Rd., Gladstone, MI.
Burial will be in Escanaba Township Cemetery in the spring.
