Marsha Jo Bjorkquist

Escanaba- Marsha Jo Bjorkquist, 64, of 4688 Marie L.45 Lane, Escanaba, passed away with family by her side on Monday, November 10, 2014, at Bishop Noa Home following a nine year struggle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born May 28, 1950, in San Francisco, California, the daughter of William and Dovey (Mitchell) Satterwhite.

On January 30, 1978, she married Francis Bjorkquist in Escanaba.

She was employed by K-Mart, and later became a cosmetologist, worked at several local shops, taught at the cosmetology school, and owned her own shop. She enjoyed archery and was an avid reader.

Marsha is survived by her husband, Francis of Escanaba; four daughters, Paulette Larson of Escanaba, Sherri (Dale) Palequin of Gladstone, Dawn Bjorkquist of Linwood, NC, and Wendy (Brett) Wagner of Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (David) Cheneweth of El Paso, TX, Darla Fender of Whitney, TX; and brother, Paul (Carrie) Satterwhite of Powell, WY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Lynn, Bobby, and Walter Satterwhite; and by sister, Diane Thomas.

As Marsha’s wish was for cremation, there will be no viewing. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from 3-5pm at Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 5pm at the funeral home with Deacon Terry Saunders officiating.

Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Bjorkquist family.

  1. I had the pleasure of having Mrs. B as my cosmetology teacher back in 1995-1996. She was so nice and was a great teacher. I can’t believe she has passed away. She was a wonderful woman. May she rest in peace.

  2. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the girls.She will be missed! I saw her last in ElPaso, Tx at my mom’s house years ago and I’m glad I got to see her then. She was loved very much and my memories are long as a child visiting all of you in Escanaba.

  3. My sister and I didn’t get to spend a lot of time together due to different states between us. But I thought of her often and my love for her was always there! She always knew that, I pray. I know she is at peace and at a wonderful place with the others we lost. Till I see u again one day, I love u Jo!

  5. So sorry to hear of Marsha’s passing.
    My Father-in-law suffered with Alzheimer’s also, so we know the pain of seeing someone you love disappear before your eye’s little by little everyday only a leaving shall .
    She was a sweet Lady.
    Thank God this is over for her and she is free flying with the Angels in Heaven……..
