Marion L. “Lou” Ostrander, 86, of Bark River, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was born on October 4, 1929 in Christopher, IL, daughter to Rodney L. and Wilma (Miles) Williams. Lou was raised in St. Louis Missouri before their family moved to Detroit, MI. She attended Webster Intermediate School and later received her license for cosmetology in Detroit.
On January 21, 1951, Marion L. Ostrander married Lewis E. Ostrander in Detroit, MI.
Lou worked in a variety of salons over the span of her 60 year career as a beautician. She owned and operated “Lou’s Head of Style” in Highland, MI for many years before they relocated to Delta County. She worked at Merle Norman and also Cutting Edge before retiring in 2005. She loved her career and taking care of her customers over the years.
She enjoyed hunting and fishing, coloring, camping and watching Detroit Tiger ballgames.
Among survivors include her husband, Lewis of Bark River; children, Sherry Lynn (John) DeMott of Sterling Heights, MI, Edward “Gary” (Kelli) Ostrander and Tim (Misty) Ostrander all of Escanaba; grandchildren, Sherry Lee (Bill) DeMott, Leon (Jennifer) DeMott, Cory Ostrander, Mallori (Aaron) Brzezinski, James, Matthew, Lewis, and Olivia Ostrander, Mercedes, Riley and Montanna; great grandchildren, Haileigh, Savannah, Jaycob, Kylee and Cassie; and half-sister, Linda Conrad of North Carolina.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Lou’s life will take place at a later date.
Burial will take place in Highland Cemetery in Highland, MI.
