Marcella J. Wicklund, 85, of Escanaba, passed away early Friday morning, November 17, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Marcella was born in Schaffer, MI, on August 4, 1932, daughter of James and Dorena (Gareau) Martin. She grew up on a farm in Bark River and graduated from Bark River Harris School in 1951.

On August 25, 1951, Marcella married Walter Wicklund at St. Patrick Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death in 2010. Together they raised 3 children.

Marcella loved spending time with her sisters, sister in law and their families. She was a wonderful cook and her family especially enjoyed her swedish coffee cake, homemade bread, buns and pasties.

She was active in Escanaba Seniors and enjoyed playing cards with her senior friends and making crafts. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and for several years maintained a large garden. Her favorite past time was watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, When Calls the Heart and Property Brothers (especially Jonathon!)
Marcella was a fan of country music. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Daniel O’Donnel were her favorites.

She was a member of St. Anne Church in Escanaba.

Among survivors are her children, Dianne (Paul) Patterson of Green Bay, WI, Sharon Boesl of Reedsburg, WI, and Jim Wicklund of Escanaba; grandchildren, John Patterson of Manitowoc, WI, JoBeth Patterson of Green Bay, WI, Adam Boesl of Orlando, FL, and Benjamin Boesl of Plantation, FL; great grandchildren, Grayson, Gavin, Declan, Miles and Max; sisters, Joanne, Marie, Joyce, Edith, and Linda.

In addition to her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. at St. Anne Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the parish hall.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Wicklund family.
