Lois “Jean” Odgers, 85, passed away on Monday, April 9th, 2018, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.
She was born in Crystal Falls, Michigan on July 4th, 1932, the daughter of Alex Dalpra and Ione (Brown) Dalpra. She was raised in Bates Township and graduated from Iron River High School in 1950. At age 63 she decided to continue her education and attended Bay College.
On December 3, 1949, Jean married Richard “Dick” Odgers in Iron River. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2014.
Jean was a homemaker for many years before working at JoAnn Fabrics and Saykllys Candy Factory.
She was a member of St. Anne’s Church where she taught CCD for several years and enjoyed being in the church choir. She later attended Salvation Army Church where she was active in various activities and taught children’s church.
Jean loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the family cottage on Lake Mary. The memories made there was the legacy she wanted to leave for her family.
She is survived by her children, Rick (Barbara) Odgers of Watseka, IL., Neil Odgers of Lansing, MI., Kevin (Toni) Odgers of Green Bay, WI., Damon Odgers of Sheboygen, WI., and Scott (Amy) Odgers of Menasha, WI.; son in law, Dennis Koehler, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.; grandchildren, Tami, Troy, Brad, Brooke, Todd, Juliana, Kelly, Chad, Michelle, Damon Jr., Travis, Olivia, Luke, Addison and Elsie; 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Carol Oshima of Denver, CO., Carl (Barb) Lind of Crystal Falls, MI, and Mina (Ray) Hill of Waunakee, WI.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters, Mary Ann Koehler and Jane Marie Odgers; and grandson, Josh Odgers.
Visitation will be held at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th Street, Escanaba on Saturday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. Services will be at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with her son, Pastor Neil Odgers officiating. A luncheon will follow in the funeral home lounge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gary Abrahamson Jr. Memory Care Center at Bishop Noa Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
A Memorial Mass and Burial will take place in Rest Haven Cemetery in Iron River, Michigan at a later date.
