Lenord F. Bower

Resided in Eustis, MI
Died April 29th, 2015

Lenord Frank Bower, 79 went to everlasting peace on Wednesday evening, April 29th. He went to rest surrounded by and in the care of his extensive family at his home on the family farm in Eustis. Lenord became Catholic in 1954 and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Schaffer until its closure when he joined St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish in Escanaba.

He was born on July 2, 1935 in Munising, MI, the first child of William & Thelma (Robinson) Bower. He moved to Eustis in 1947 with his family and fell in love with the area and a certain girl down the road.

He married his love, Katie DeLoughary on January 21, 1956 and together they raised six sons while operating the dairy farm we all call home. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins were welcomed and spent summers and breaks at the farm. He was most proud of his growing family and their accomplishments. Because of this, he considered himself the wealthiest man in the world.

He worked hard all his life. In addition to the farm, he worked in the woods, construction and was a BR-H Schools employee from 1962 to 1999. He was a little league coach at Schaffer and served on the Harris Township Board. Lenord and all of his family attended Bark River-Harris Schools and was a dedicated Bronco fan all of his life.

Lenord continued to farm and operate machinery until last year when his back would not allow it. He loved to tinker with old tractors and spent many hours watching the Tigers and Packers as well as playing cards with Katie. He spoke recently of his rich, full life and of his gratitude for having lived it.

Among survivors include his wife, Katie Bower of Eustis; six sons, Bill (Jan) Bower, Kenny (Marcia) Bower, George (Doreen) Bower, Rusty (Tracy) Bower, Bob Bower, Joe (Mary) Bower all of Eustis; grandchildren, Jenny Bower, Brian (Lynn) Bower, Lacey (Jon) Bower-Forgette, David (Katie) Bower, Brock (Mari) Bower, Shannon (Mike) McDonough , Katy Bower, Jordan (Nicole) Bower, Kyle (Stevie) Bower, Josie Bower, Jackson Bower, Mason Bower, Christina Bower; great grandchildren, Holden, Vayda, and Harlyn Forgette, Ava and Gionni McDonough, CJ Bower, Arabella and Abel Bower, Savanna and Riley Bower, and Finn Bower. He is also survived by two brothers, Clarence (Gloria) Bower of Green Bay and Charles (Glenda) Bower of Bangor, New York; and one sister, Agnes Schierschmidt of Munising.

Lenord was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Harold & Leona DeLoughary; daughter in law, Gina Bower; and brother in law, Buck Schierschmidt.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church in Escanaba with Rev. Emmett Norden officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
