Lee J. Mislinski, 70, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility.
Lee was born in Appleton, WI on May 21, 1943 the son of Myron and Rosemary (Wachelin) Mislinski. He was raised in Appleton and graduated from St. Lawrence Brother School, Mt. Calvary, WI, in 1962.
He had been living the Escanaba for the past 45 years.
Lee married Ruth A. Vandeveld on April 26, 1969 at Immaculate Conception Church in Algoma, WI.
After serving four years in the Navy, Lee returned to Appleton and was an apprentice lineman for Wisconsin-Michigan Power Co. After he became a lineman he transferred to Bark River, MI. In 1969, he started working as a lineman for Upper Peninsula Power Co. until he developed rheumatoid arthritis. He then took college courses to learn Auto-Cad and worked as an engineering aide for Upper Peninsula Power Co. until he retired.
Lee loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved spending time with family and grandchildren. He belonged to St. Anne’s Parish and was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul.
In quiet times, Lee enjoyed reading about the Civil War and Ancient Rome. He was an avid Packer fan and is a survivor of the infamous “Ice Bowl” in 1967.
Lee is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Jennifer (Jamie) Spriks of Escanaba, Vicki (Casey) Schroeder of Escanaba; son, John (Melissa) Mislinski of Neenah, WI; six grandchildren, Justin and Kelsey Spriks, Rory and Gavin Schroeder, and Kate and Claire Mislinski; sister, Sharon (Bob) Keating of Montecello, WI; brother, Lawrence (Caren) Mislinski of Harrison Township, MI; step-sister, Susan (Bob) Lamb of Pennsylvania; step-brother, Todd (Sally) VanKleeck; sisters in law, Nancy (David) Libal of Green Bay, WI, Rosie (Jim) Feld of Algoma, WI, Pat (Roger) Crabb of Green Bay, WI; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents, Myron Mislinski and Rosemary VanKleeck and step-father, Arthur VanKleeck; mother and father in law, Mildred and Eben Vandeveld; brother, Don Mislinski; and sister in law, Pat Mislinski.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12th from 9:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Anne Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Entombment will be in the Holy Cross Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Name Catholic School in Lee’s name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
