Lawrence J. “Larry” Young, 75, W633 East Fordville Rd., Hardwood, MI, passed away at his home on Friday morning, December 6, 2013.
He was born on September 21, 1938 in Escanaba, son of Joseph and Dorothy (Delveaux) Young. Larry graduated from Escanaba High School in 1958.
Larry was employed with Harnischfeger as a welder and painter from 1960 to 1984. He moved to Grand Haven, MI and worked at Lithibar Matik until his retirement.
He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, country music, dancing, and taking drives with his dogs Buster and Snooks.
Among his survivors include his children, Kenneth (Melissa) Young of Wyoming, Kristine Young (Dana Nelson) of Grand Haven, MI, Kerry (Keith) Lewis of Hardwood; daughter-in-law, Lisa; the mother of his children and friend, Delores Young of Grand Haven, MI; grandchildren, Logan, Lauren and Amanda (Jim) Young, Adam and Branden Young, Ashley Young, and Daven, Jordan and Alexis Bosma; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Young; sisters, Rose (Darrell) Sarasin and Marianne Swanson; and closest friend who was like a brother, John (Caroline) Schultz of Grand Haven, MI.
Larry was preceded in death by his son, Michael Young; brother, Francis Young; and sister, Lorraine Beauchamp.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 12th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Darin Kelsey from the Berean Baptist Church officiating.
Larry’s final resting place will be in the Escanaba Twp. Cemetery in Gladstone, MI.
He will be deeply missed by all family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
