Laurie J. Gardner, 59, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Escanaba on June 28, 1956, daughter of the late Louis H. and Beverly J. (Hereau) Nolde. Laurie resided in the Hyde area all of her life.

She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1974 and worked as a cashier at Shopko for nine years.

On August 3, 1974, Laurie married Gregory Gardner at St. George’s Church in Bark River.

Laurie loved being a grandmother, and spending time baking and cooking. She also enjoyed cheering on the Lions and trips to the casino.

Laurie was very close with her family and enjoyed getting together with them regularly.

Laurie was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Greg; three children, Cory (Jodi) Gardner of Danforth, and Melissa (Ryon Thornton) Gardner and Ashley (Jon Coyne) Gardner, both of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Ava, Eli, and Abby Gardner; sisters, Tammie (Roger) Beauchamp of Flat Rock, and Tracy (Paul) Spaulding of Pittsburg, PA; brothers, Mike (Mary Kay) Nolde, Pat (Cindy) Nolde, and Joe (Debbie) Nolde all of Escanaba, and Don (Rhonda) Nolde of Manawa, WI; mother in law, Audrey LaChance (Bob Ward) of Escanaba; sister in law, Bonnie (Steve) Dennocenzo of Hardwood; brother in law, Paul (Jennifer) LaChance of Escanaba; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Parish prayers will be said at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wells.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Gardner family.
