Kevin J. Smith, 39, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014.

He was born in Escanaba on October 9, 1974, the son of James and Anita (Mathieson) Smith, Sr.

Kevin is a graduate of Bark River-Harris High School.

On December 21, 2012, Kevin married the former Jennie Bagley in Escanaba.

He was employed by Superior Trucking delivering for Menards.

Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family, racing on dirt tracks (his past passion), and tinkering with cars.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Smith; daughters, Jordan Smith of Gladstone, Nina Johnson of Escanaba, Rhianna Uskiewicz of Marinette, WI; sons, Austin Smith and Christopher Smith of Brampton, Pvt. Michael Uskiewicz of Afghanistan; mother, Anita Smith; sister, Tonya Smith of Soo Hill; brother, James “Jim” (Pam Carey) Smith of Soo Hill; grandchildren, Mason Brayden and Rhandi Marie; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, James Smith, Sr.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Major Ralph Hansen of the Salvation Army officiating.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Smith family.

  4. Needy,Jim and Tonya, I am in total shock as I sit to write this as I am sure you all are. I have so many fond memories of Kevin playing with our kids and staying at our house, and all the family camping trips we did together.
