Kenneth J. Derouin, Sr., 75, 5729 F Road, Bark River, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his home.

He was born on June 24, 1938 in Escanaba, the son of Alex and Helma (Buckland) Derouin.

Ken enjoyed woodworking, playing with the grandchildren, making wood products for family, and coffee gatherings with neighbors.

He was employed by L.D. Olson & Krokstad Construction. He was also self employed as a carpenter. He drove school bus for Bark River- Harris Schools for 10 years retiring in 2003.

Kenneth married Sandra McMurtrie on December 20, 1958.

He was a member of the Bark River United Methodist Church.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Sandra; of Schaffer, sons, Joe (Sandy) Derouin, Jr., of Bark River, Greg Derouin of Wilson, Brian (Julie) Derouin of Bark River, and Mark (Katie) Derouin of Schaffer; grandchildren, Stephanie, Brooke, Bryce, Brittany, Brent, Braelyn, and Brayden; great grandchildren, Jacob and Allison; brothers, Dale (Merridth) Derouin of Bark River and John (Carol) Derouin of Bark River; sisters, Carol Kutches of Escanaba and Barbara Richer of Rockford, IL; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Derouin of Escanaba, Susie Derouin of Bark River, Barbara (Ray) Solomon of California, Shirley Fibrow of California, Janet Curtis of Rockford, IL, Sharon (Robert) Ervin of Oregon, and Linda Haines of California; brother-in-law, Steve McMurtrie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Gary, Roger (Joyce) Derouin, sisters, Dorothy (Emery) Skradski, and Lois (Robert) DuPuy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River from 3 to 6 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Chris Bergquist officiating. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ken’s name to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Derouin family.
