Kay M. Lake, 75, Bark River, passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2016 at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 24, 1941 in Ishpeming, MI, daughter of Wilho L. and Aune M. (Niemi) Kosonen. Kay was raised in Ishpeming and graduated from Ishpeming High School. She attended Northern Michigan University, earning her master degree in education.
On June 22, 1963, the former Kay M. Kosonen married William W. Lake, Jr. in Ishpeming.
Kay was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River.
Among survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Lake of Bark River; daughter, Caroline (Nick) Glander; grandchildren, Natalie and Benton Glander; sister, Karen (Dan) Fairfield of Iron Mountain, MI; sister in law, Martha Windley of Portsmith, VA; one nephew and four nieces; and numerous cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 26th from 1 – 4p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River with Pastor Paul Strom officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in the Bark River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. A memorial will be established at a later date in her name.
