Joyce E. Osby, 89, Escanaba, passed away on Friday afternoon, November 14, 2014, at Bishop Noa Home.

She was born on March 31, 1925, in Norway, MI. On May 11, 1946, Joyce married Irving C. Osby in Norway. They moved to Escanaba in 1953.

Joyce was employed with the City of Escanaba for 21 years, retiring as city clerk in 1987.

She was an active member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, serving on funeral committees, singing in the resurrection choir, and as a collection counter. She also was a secretary for the West Highland Apartments Activity Club, where she resided for many years.

In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needle point, and cross stitch. She made many beautiful items that she shared with family and friends. Joyce also enjoyed playing cards and participated in several card groups. She loved to cook, bake, and always liked to try new recipes.

Joyce was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family, and the time that she spent with them, was most important to her.

Among survivors include her daughter, Peggy (Robert) Ammel of Escanaba; son, David Osby of Escanaba; grandchildren, Chris (Emily) Ammel, Cheri Ammel, and Stacey Osby; great grandchildren, Michael and Eleanor Kidder, Kelsey, Daniel Jr. and Laura LeClaire; brother, James (Pauline) Herman of Germantown, WI; sisters in law, Marjorie Herman of Aurora, WI and Lois Osby of Janesville, WI and Larissa Osby of Wexford, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irving; she was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry; three sisters, Fern Larson, Betty Steeno, and Shirley Larsh; and brother, Alden Herman.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 18th from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church with Rev. Eric Olson officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Entombment will be in Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Osby family.
