Joseph “Joe” John Hollo, 90, 2701 1st Ave S., Apt. 512, Escanaba, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Christian Park Health Care Center.
He was born on May 2, 1925 in Springton, W.V., son of Joseph and Anna (Kovac) Hollo. Joe was raised in Daggett where he attended school and later moved to Escanaba in the late 70’s.
On January 25, 1995, Joseph married Patricia A. Olson in Ft Meyer, FL.
Joe was employed with Harnischfeger Corporation until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Highland Golf Club for over 40 years, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Joe was involved with the Harnischfeger golf and bowling teams for many years and bowled high series 703 in 1964 which was one of the first 700’s.
In addition to bowling and playing golf, Joe played cards until he lost his sight. He loved baseball and football, especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
Among the survivors include his wife, Pat Olson-Hollo of Escanaba; daughter, Susan Skaleski of Green Bay; sons, John (Barbara) Hollo of Marinette, WI, Randy (Sandy) Hollo of Stephenson, and Steve (Sally) Hollo of Huntington, IN; step sons, Lloyd (Theresa) Olson, Larry (Vicki) Olson, Lyle (Sheila) Olson; step daughters, Linda (Tom) Koch and Lori (Ernie) Ravnikar; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Nick) Caley, Brandie Hollo (Brandt Finley), Dawn Hollo, Aimee Hollo, Allan Hollo, Sara Wallach, Lisa Thill and Scott Skaleski; four great grandchildren, Dalton Caley, Brynn Caley, Demetri Thrift and Karlos Thrift; step grandchildren, Craig, Cami, Michael, David, Kristen, Scott, Andy, Emily, Tina, Chris and Josh; sister, Rose (Steve) Berzsenyi; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Anna Desjarlias.
A gathering of relatives and close friends will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the first floor community room at the West Highland Apartments.
