Joan May “Joanie” Dlugas, 80, 6420 N. 8th Street, Wells, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 19, 1934 in Escanaba, daughter to Clifford and Julia (Maki) Johnson. Joan graduated from Escanaba High School.

On September 15, 1962, Joan married John P. Dlugas in Bark River.

Joan was employed with Harnischfeger for 19 years.

She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, the Eagle’s Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the Delta County Cancer Alliance.

Among survivors include her husband, John of 52 years; and two daughters, Tina (Jeff) Bruce and Mary (Greg) Bink of Escanaba; son in law, Todd Quaghebeur of Escanaba; and grandchildren, Greg, Melissa, Kasey, Kristina, and Jacob; and great grandchildren, Devin and Dylan; brother, Cory Johnson of Escanaba.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike Weber; daughter, Chris Quaghebeur; and siblings, Leonard Johnson and Pat Forvilly.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, there will be no visitation. The funeral service for Joan will be on Thursday, May 28th at 12 noon at Christ the King Lutheran Church. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Dlugas family.

  2. John and family. So sorry to hear about your loss. She was a beautiful person and loved my many and will be missed by many. Prayers for all of you during this difficult time.

  3. John, Tina and Mary, I am so very, very sorry to read of the loss of your Wife and Mom. My heart breaks for you all but I am so happy she was able to be home. She was lucky to have daughters who stopped their lives to be with her when she became ill. And I do not think I have ever met a man so devoted to his bride.

    May the Lord give you comfort in this awful time of grieving. You all are in my prayers.
