Jeanette M. Frazer, 96, of Escanaba, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 29, 2017 at Bishop Noa Home.
Jeanette was born on July 8, 1921, in Detroit, MI, daughter of Eucdid “Clyde” and Dorina (Charbonneau) Lancour.
In 1939, Jeanette graduated from St. Joseph’s High School with honors in the upper top 10 of the class.
On May 1, 1941 she married Lawrence Chenier at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock where she was an active member for many years. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1950. She worked part time as a cook for Flat Rock Elementary Grade School for five years and she also did catering with her sister in law, Agnas King. She was also involved with the Flat Rock Senior Citizens and a club leader for 4-H for six years in the 1950’s.
On October 22, 1960 she married Clifford Frazer and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1993.
Jeanette was an active member of the St. Thomas Church. She was involved with the Guild and for many years was a rosary leader at St. Thomas Church for Thursday Mass.
She loved picking blueberries, playing cards and especially teaching her grandchildren the game of Skip-Bo.
In 2009, Jeanette wrote her childhood memories with the help of her children.
Jeanette had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. Her source of grace and strength came from the Lord throughout her life from the Mass and Holy Eucharist. Her favorite prayer and lifeline to heaven was the Holy Rosary. She cherished family get togethers at the cottage on Corner Lake and hosted open house at Christmas time and always made and served her special meat pie.
She was the last survivor out of 16 children and their spouses from her first husband, Lawrence Chenier’s family.
She is survived by her fourteen children; Donald Chenier, Carol (Dave) Carlson, Norman (Joanne) Chenier, Betty Chenier, Pat Chenier, James (Nancy) Frazer, Robert (Nancy) Frazer, Mary (Norman) Marenger, Bill (Shirley) Frazer, Dick Frazer, Susan (Gerry) Searle, Peter (Sharon) Frazer, Pat (Sharon) Frazer, Mike (Joyce) Frazer; forty-eight grandchildren; ninety great grandchildren and eighteen great great grandchildren; siblings, Rosie Mulvanny and Victor (Jane) Lancour; two sisters in law, Barb and Jean Lancour.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Lawrence Chenier and Clifford Frazer; siblings, Ida, Leo, Francis, and Harry Lancour and Betty (John) Anzalone; daughters in law, Mary Frazer and Paula Chenier; brother in law, Tom Mulvanny; and great grandson, Nathan Frazer.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 1st from 2 – 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Thomas Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A meal will be served following the mass in the church hall.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bishop Noa Home.
