Janice I. “Irene” Meshigaud, 69, of Wilson, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at her home following an illness.
She was born on January 6, 1948 in Escanaba, daughter of Peter and Ida(Meshigaud)Halfaday. Irene was raised in Hannahville and graduated from Bark River Harris High School. She attended cosmetology school and more recently worked at the Island Resort and Casino as the count team manager, retiring in 2000.
Irene married Ernest Meshigaud on March 1, 1975 in Hannahville. He preceded her in death.
She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, cross stitching, cooking, baking, bowling and going to concerts.
Among survivors include her children, Anna Larson, Stephanie (Michael) Philemon, Ida (Matt) Kazmer, Ernest (Tracy) Meshigaud, Jr. and Harriet Meshigaud all of Hannahville; grandchildren, James, Justin, Traci, John, Josh, Shianne, Candice, Ellianna, Hannah, Laney, Andrew, Matthew (Rachel), Hazel and Sawyer; 20 great grandchildren and special nephew Robin (Toni) Halfaday.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ernest Sr., she was preceded in death by son in law, Mark Larson; grandson, Franklin Uskilith; and siblings, Louis Halfaday Sr., Anthony Halfaday and Dora Wandasega.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 1st beginning at 4 p.m. at the Hannahville Community Center. The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 10 a.m.
