Janet (Adams) Farrell, 87, born January 16 1929, in Escanaba, to Leah and William Adams, passed away, on March 16, 2016, in Mesa, AZ.
Janet graduated from Escanaba High School in 1947, and was a member of the Escanaba Figure Skating Club, traveling around the area doing events; she had a passion for both roller skating early on, and finally, ice skating, and was one of the best in the area. After high school she was an assistant photographer at Lee’s Studio in Escanaba.
She married Robert “Pat” Farrell in July 1949 in East Jordan, Michigan. They moved back to Escanaba, and eventually settled into their country home in Gladstone.
Janet worked at Northern Plumbing and Heating in Escanaba for many years, retiring in 1989. Meanwhile, Pat worked for the Escanaba Daily Press for 37 years.
Janet and Pat were an active part of the community, members of St. Anthony’s Church in Wells, and the Highland Golf Club, they went on many fishing trips, and to Florida in their Airstream. Janet loved animals, and living in their country home.
Janet was a care giver to her late husband, Pat, for many years in their home in Gladstone, then again while at Christian Park and Bishop Noah Home. She moved to Palmetto, FL after his passing in 2010, to be with her sister.
Eventually moving with her sister Dorothy “Bunny” to Bella Vista Villas in Mesa AZ, in 2014, where they enjoyed their life together, being close to their nieces, and meeting lots of new friends. Janet spent a lot of time with one special friend, Mary Ann Gallagher, who became like a sister to them both in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Pat Farrell; brothers, Allen, Louis, and Marvin “Glenn” Adams Sr.; and sister, Dorothy “Bunny” Hover.
Survivors include, nieces, Diana (Robert) Adams Gallagher and Donna (Mike) Adams Cannata of Phoenix AZ; nephew, Marvin (Mary) Adams Jr. of Escanaba; sisters-in-law, Marie (Eugene) Harris of Gladstone and Jeanne Gray; and several nieces and nephews on the Farrell side, including Sandy (Erv) Vandeville of Wells, Julie (Tim) Bishop, and Jerry (Tammy) Harris of Gladstone; along with several great nieces and nephews, on both sides of the family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at St Anthony’s Church, 6596 N Third St. Wells, MI with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
