Helen Marie Miller, 94, of Powers, passed away early Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Cedar Grove, Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was born in Bark River on May 29, 1923, the daughter of Myrtle (Allen) and Archie McLeod.
Helen attended Sunnyside School.
On February 28, 1953, Helen married John “Jack” Miller at St. Sabastian Rectory in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2000.
Helen lived in Bark River for 21 years before moving to Milwaukee where she resided for 23 years. She moved to the Spalding area in 1978.
She worked as a private duty LPN while employed in Milwaukee. Helen was a cook for the Harley family from the Harley Davison motorcycles, which she enjoyed for nine years.
Helen loved to cook and dance. She enjoyed dancing to the best orchestras at the time, often with her brother Archie.
She is survived by her sister, Marion Claunch of Monta Vista, CO; and sisters in law, Joyce McCloud of Ill and Charlotte McLeod of Spalding; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Marylee DeGrave.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; brothers, Archie, Loren, Dan, Gorden and Jim; sisters, Pat Camp, Jessie Mae Beaudoin, Elorine Strom and Eva Stockton.
Graveside services will be held in the spring with Sister Bonnie Motto, O.P. officiating at the Bark River Cemetery.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Miller family.
