Gerald Lee ”Satch” Seymour,73, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at his home, after a lengthy illness. Gerald was raised in North Escanaba. Like many northtowners of his generation he dropped out of high school to work. As a young man he spent time on the ore boats and working in the factories around Sheboygan, Wisconsin. For much of his professional life he was a member of the Michigan Carpenter’s Union.
Gerald loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, a good western and watching sports. He was a huge Detroit Tiger and Red Wings fan. His support for the Chicago Bears was reflective of his personality. He was a charismatic story and joke teller. Gerald had a kind heart and was very giving to complete strangers in need.
Gerald is survived by his children, Michael (Karla) Seymour of Duluth, MN, Mando John (Cindy) Seymour of Carney, MI, and Kathleen (Alan) Cazzato of Bartleet, IL; grandchildren Tori and Tyler Seymour, Danielle, Zachary and Samantha Seymour, and Alyssa and Alexandra Cazzato; sisters, Shirley Burger of Sheboygan, WI and Clara Jean Hanson of Escanaba; sister-in-law, Joanne Seymour of Sheboygan, WI; brothers, Clarence (Jackie) Seymour of Escanaba and Charles (Mary) Seymour of Escanaba; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth Sape Seymour; and brother, Lawrence Seymour of Sheboygan, WI.
A mass will be offered in Jerry’s name March 19th at 5:15 p.m. at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.
