Gerald Charles DuBord, 85, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, February 19, 2020 at his home of natural causes.

He was born on December 4, 1934 in Escanaba, son of Joseph and Lena (Borden) DuBord. Gerald was raised and attended school in Escanaba. He was married to Audrey (Balthazore) DuBord on August 10, 1957 at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.ย  She preceded him in death on November 4, 2014.

Gerald served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Ticonderoga during the Korean War.ย  He was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 123 and served as post commander.

He was a Machine Tender at Mead Paper Company for forty years before his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Mark DuBord of Escanaba, Mike DuBord of Sarasota, FL, Patrick DuBord of Ft. Walton Beach FL. and Dale DuBord of Escanaba; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Michael DuBord of Escanaba and Janice Parlato of Escanaba.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Jr., Sister Judy (DuBord) Lusardi and Brother, Myron DuBord.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, February 27th at 4 p.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating.ย  A meal will immediately follow in the church hall.

The committal service will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba.

  1. My condolences to the entire family. In my earlier years working at the Paper Mill and meeting Jerry made it fun to go to work just for the camaraderie. We had a lot of laughs….and an occasional brew. RIP Jerry

  2. Sorry for your loss, Uncle Joe and Aunt Lena would come up to Lanse and visit my grandpa ( Lawrence Velmer) and we would go and visit them. Aunt Lena’s mom and dad adopted my grandpa ( Lawrence Velmer).

    My condolences to you all. Uncle Jerry was another blessing in our family. He will be greatly missed and left many behind with great memories for all of us to hang on to his memory. He and Aunt Audrey were my Godparents. Praying for his immediate family most of all for Aunt Audrey and him to be together now. RIP fam.     I was so sorry to hear about your father’s recent passing! I just heard about it this weekend, sorry our family missed the funeral! Your dad was a great guy and will be missed tooling around the ole neighborhood. Our family has many fond memories of your family and your mom/dad. Peace be with all of you, it’s so hard to say good bye, just know that he is happy again being with your mom and Jerry and is looking down at all of you with love. The neighborhood has changed so much over the years, with all of our parents passing or moving away . ..but the memories will last forever.
