Gerald (Jerry) A. Grenfell, 84 and Rosellen A. Grenfell, 80, of Escanaba, both passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Gerald was born on May 19, 1932 in Escanaba, son of William and Marie (Nordell) Grenfell. He graduated from Bark River Harris School. Gerald loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting & fishing. He also was mechanically inclined and took pride in a motorcycle that he had built. Gerald was employed as a welder pipefitter for local 111.

Rosellen was born on October 15, 1936 in Escanaba, daughter of Herman and Ellen (Sundquist) Palmgren. She attended Bark River Harris School. In addition to raising four children, she taught all seven of her grandchildren how to roller skate, swim and made Christmas cookies with them each year. Rosellen also worked various jobs and retired from Phil & Lee’s Homes.

On October 27, 1951, Gerald and Rosellen were married.

Among survivors include their children, William Grenfell, Escanaba; Jerry Grenfell, Escanaba; Mary (Dan) Richards, Gladstone; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; Gerald’s sister, Joan (Pete) McKenzie; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald and Rosellen were preceded in death by their parents; son, Steven Grenfell and many siblings.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Strom officiating.

Burial will take place on Thursday, April 6th at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Grenfell family.
