Elaine T. “Peanuts” Menard, 87, 825 N. 18th St., Escanaba, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Christian Park Village.

She was born on November 25, 1927 in Escanaba, daughter to George and Elizabeth (Bourdeau) Scheer. Elaine graduated from Escanaba High School and was a lifelong resident of Escanaba.

On November 25, 1944, Elaine Scheer married William Menard at St. Joseph Church. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2013.

She worked for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone supervisor until her retirement at the age of 52.

Elaine enjoyed playing cribbage, bingo and going to the casino. She was a member of the Pioneer Club for Bell Telephone.

Among survivors include two sons, William (Cindy) Menard of Sault Ste Marie and Tom (Gloria) Menard of Escanaba; grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Kyle and Allison (Paul); 9 great grandchildren, Olivia, Alexandria, Billy, Jordan, Jackson, Madison, Alexandria, Emma, and Brady.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Jane, Betty, Anne, Dee, Virginia, and Helen; and three brothers, Robert, Hank, and John.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 16th from noon to 2 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. A luncheon will immediately follow in the dining room area.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Menard family.

  1. Worked in the same building as your Mom many years ago. Lovely lady. My sympathies to the family for your loss.

  2. Our sympathy to all of you in the loss of such a wonderful lady. She will really be missed. She is at rest now and is probably playing cribbage with the love of her life!
