E. Roger Sicotte

E. Roger Sicotte, 72, 9 Kenneally Blvd, Gladstone, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014, at his home.

Roger was born in Marquette on January 7, 1942, the son of Frank and Norma (Rublein) Sicotte.

He graduated from Graveraet High School in 1960 and continued his education at Gale Institute of Drafting in Minneapolis, MN, where he met Verna.

On January 19, 1963, Roger married Verna Korpi in Finlayson, MN.

Roger moved back to Marquette to help his father with the construction of new homes and began working for several different contractors until he opened Sicotteā€™s Sharpening Service. After several years, Roger became a self-employed carpenter until he moved to Escanaba to help his son with customer service and maintenance at Rainbow Packing, Inc. He really enjoyed his work until his retirement. He has resided in the Gladstone/Escanaba area for the past 16 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Verna; daughter, Laurel (Brian) Branch of Rochester Hills, MI; sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Sicotte of Rock and Douglas (Lori) Sicotte of Ishpheming; sister, Anita (Tom) Glispin of Poulsbo, WA; brothers, Jerome (Barbara) Sicotte of Gladstone and Greg (Sharleen) Sicotte of Marquette; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Sicotte, Ashley and Chelsea Sicotte, and Coleman, Brandon, and Dylan Branch; two great grandchildren, Blake Christian and Weston Sicotte; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Bark River Bible Church from 1 to 3 p.m. with services to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Bradley Cochrane officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Northland Chapel Gardens in Marquette on Friday, November 7th at 10 a.m.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Sicotte family.

  10. Although it’s been many years since we have seen him, we remember Roger fondly as a kind and gracious man. Praying for God’s comfort and peace to be with Verna and their precious family.

  11. Verna, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. Was he sick for an extended time? My Robert died at the age of 70, five years ago in October. It’s so hard but onward we go. Praise God for all the great years we had together.
