Dolores Ann (Lancour) Cousineau

Dolores Ann (Lancour) Cousineau, 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 21st, 2019, at Christian Park Healthcare Center.

Dolores was born in Armstrong Creek, WI, on April 4, 1928, daughter of Esty and Carrie (Breitzman) Gilland.

She attended Rapid River High School, graduating in 1946.

On August 10, 1946, Dolores married Norman Lancour at St. Charles Church in Rapid River. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1983. On July 10, 1987 Dolores married Donald Cousineau at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.

Dolores worked as a clerk at Peoples Drug Store and Gartners for many years. She then went to work as a baker’s aide at Elmers County Market, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish where she was an usher and a member of the Ladies Guild.

Among survivors are her husband Donald; daughters, Linda (Greg) Yagodzinski of Escanaba and their children, Melissa (Rick) Bonifas-Ness and Erik (Jen) Bonifas; Kathryn (Mario) Micheli of Arizona and their children, Corey Sims, Hope Micheli, Deahnea Micheli and Sierra Micheli; Lisa Lancour of Escanaba, and Staci (Mike) Abb of Bark River and their children, Kyle Abb and Erin Abb; step children, Gerald Cousineau and Janet Mahoney both of Green Bay, WI, Jean (Jim) Billy of Bark River, Joan (Mark) Sidla of MN, Joyce (Jeff) Sheedlo of Escanaba and James (Lynn) Cousineau of Escanaba; four great grandchildren; seventeen step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Norman, Dolores was preceded in death by her siblings, Eunice Wills, Vernon Gilland, Carroll Gilland, Bernard Gilland, Donald Gilland and Gwendolyn Rushford.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 South 13th Street, Escanaba from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 3 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Rapid River Cemetery.

  4. I am so saddened to read of the passing of our dearest friend, Dee.
    I am so happy that I was able to visit her at Christian Park about a month ago on my way home from Green Bay.
    My friend Lat and I stopped at their home to learn from Don that Dee had fallen and was at Christian Park.
    I am so sorry that I I was not aware of her passing until after the funeral had taken place.
    Both Don and Dee were the dearest friends that anyone could ever dream of.
