David E. Rusch, 76, of Ford River, passed away January 1, 2018 in Escanaba.
Dave was born in Marshfield, WI, on January 2, 1941, son of Hilton and Genevieve (Adkins) Rusch. He was raised in Wausau and enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17. He served from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He then served in the reserves until 1964. Dave was awarded the Rifle Marksmanship Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Dave traveled to Escanaba for employment and later married and stayed in the area.
On May 31, 1974, he was united in marriage to Pauline Kositzke in Bark River. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2008.
He was an iron worker for 45 years until his retirement in 2006. Dave and his wife, Pauline also owned and operated Rusch’s Corner Bar and Restaurant for 20 years. He enjoyed working with and serving the many friends that visited the corner. They later owned and operated Rusch’s Triangle.
He was a charter member of the Marine Corp League Upper Peninsula Detachment 444 in 1979.
Dave is survived by his children; Robin (Tom) Bourdeau and granddaughter Heather of Escanaba, Lisa (Matt) Rice of Waupaca, WI, Dan (Karen) Coppock of Milwaukee, Dale (Diane) Coppock of Green Bay, WI, Cliff (Liz) Coppock of Escanaba, Jennifer (Chuck) Sawatski of Arkansas, Melanie Rusch of Lacrosse, WI, Dan Rusch of Arkansas and David Rusch of Oshkosh; siblings, Walter (ann) Rusch, Dorothy (Art) Tautges, and Erma Butzloff all of of Wausau, WI, Joyce Litke of Marathon, WI, Florence Pages Oconomowski, WI and Maryanne (Larry) Buchkowski of Harley, WI; special friend, Pat Abba of Escanaba; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Pauline; Dave is preceded in death by his son, Scott and siblings, Rosemary Rusch, Harvey (Pat) Rusch and Frank (Jeannie) Rusch.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Veteran services will be at 3 p.m. with funeral services at 4 p.m. with Pastor Jason Kent officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marine Corp. League. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery spring 2018.
