Dale P. Strahl, 73, of Wilson, passed away Sunday morning, September 10, 2017 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Dale was born April 30, 1944 in Escanaba, son of Howard and Stella (Arkens) Strahl. He was raised in Gourley Township and attended Carney High School.
On July 6, 1996, he married Barbara Bartell in Wilson.
Dale worked at CAPP Homes, Farmsite Implement and finished out his career in the maintenance department and as a truck driver for Robinson Furniture until his retirement in 1985.
He loved hunting, fishing, camping, farming and horses. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dale was well known for his draft horses and provided sleigh and carriage rides to many families through various organizations throughout the years.
Dale was a former Fire Chief for Gourley Township and a member of the Gas Steam and Engine Club.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Sally Hubbard; grandson, David Hubbard; and brother, Donald (Sandy) Strahl all of Wilson.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; siblings, Leonard, Lloyd, Norbert, Wayne “Chum” Strahl and Lorraine Kirschner.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 3-5 p.m. (EDT) at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. Following the funeral service, a meal will be served at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Strahl family.
