Cecil “CeCe” L. (Boyle) Buchholtz, 91, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Bishop Noa Home.

CeCe, daughter of Edward and Emma (Lippold) Boyle, was born on October 11, 1925 in Escanaba and was the youngest of ten children. She was a lifelong resident of Escanaba and attended Escanaba Schools.

At the age of 16, she began working at the House of Ludington as well as other local establishments.

On July 9, 1947 she married William Buchholtz Sr. at St. Patrick Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on 1985.

CeCe was a member of St. Anne’s Church, the Eagles, and the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, baking, watching The Price Is Right, picnics with her family, and in her younger years was involved in a bowling league. CeCe was known for her Irish wit and her compassion and willingness to always lend a helping hand. As her epitaph reads “Taking a Big Nap” CeCe will be laid to rest in her nightgown.

Among survivors include her children, Linda (Cary) Vedin of Escanaba, Ken (Mary Way) Buchholtz of Ford River, Shelley (Lyle) Godfrey of Gladstone, Mary (David) Lark of Cornell, Billy (Tina) Buchholtz Jr. of Ford River, and Shawn (Frankie) Buchholtz of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Justin & Cory Vedin, Kylie & Andy Breitenbach, Tom Gingras, and Melissa Buchholtz; great grandchildren, Mia, Monroe, Jacob, Brooke, Maddy, Braxton, Payton, Weston, and Preston; sister-in-law, Frances Buchholtz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Annie Boyle, Mary Wagner, Eleanor DeGrand, Alice Freels, Emily Anderson and Caroline Hobson; brothers, Edward, John, and Thomas Boyle.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20th from 3-5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Church at 6 p.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.

Burial will be on Wednesday, December 21st at 10 a.m. in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Wheelin’ Sportsman in care of Ken Buchholtz or St. Anne’s Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The Buchholtz family would like to thank the staff at Bishop Noa Home for taking such good care of their mother.

    I have many memories of your Mom. SHe was a very comical person and was always good for a laugh. You never knew what would come out of her mouth next.

    You have our sincere sympathies for your loss. Remember, she is in a better place now.
