Carlton E. “Carl” Ramey Jr., 46, 537 N. 20th St., Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at UP Health System – Marquette.
He was born on December 16, 1968 in Cincinnati, OH, son of Carlton E. and Linda (Crosse) Ramey Sr. Carl was raised in Hazel Park, MI and then relocated to Manistique where he graduated from high school and continued his education at Bay de Noc Community College.
Carl was the slot machine manager at the Kewadin Casino for 12 years in Manistique. For the past 9 years, he lived in Escanaba and was employed with the Island Resort and Casino as a slot technician.
On October 15, 1999, Carlton married Claudette Emily Mondoskin in Escanaba.
In addition to his wife, Claudette, he is survived by his father, Carlton E. Ramey Sr. of Cullman, AL; stepfather, Michael Johnson of Manistique; four sons, James (Carla) Reichlin of Elyria, OH, Ryan Ramey, Jordan Ramey and Guy (Ashley) Vertz all of Manistique; three daughters, Robin Vertz of Coldwater, MI, Emily Vertz of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Anna (Brian) Jenerou of Charlston, SC; nine grandchildren, Skylar, Heidi Mae, Carson, Levi, Lauren, Alexis, Teighlor, Preston, and Arika; maternal grandmother, Mary Crosse of Escanaba; step brother, Michael (Jill) Johnson of Manistique; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 27th from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. An opportunity for friends and family to share a memory about Carl will follow at 2 p.m.
Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.
