Betty Lee Oman, 71, Kipling, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born October 28, 1944 to Army Serviceman Robert (Buck) and Betty LaVigne in Madison, Tenn. Following WWII they returned to the farm in Schaffer where the family grew to include Bob and Beverly. She attended grade school at Schaffer and Holy Name High School.
On June 10, 1961 she married Allan Patrick. They made their home in Illinois which came to include sons Allan and Joe.
Following her return to the area in 1977, she joined her partner and husband Dennis in a woodworking business in Kipling where they made their home. In 1992 Betty earned her L.P.N. Degree. Betty was employed at the Delta-Menominee Health Department for sixteen years before her retirement. During her time there she made so many dear friends and shared her love of the “Beautiful Babies”.
Betty’s retirement found her expressing her love of nature through the flowers she grew and the drawings she made. She will be remembered for her strength of character, generous heart and devotion to her family, gathering them around her table and keeping family traditions.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis of Kipling; sister, Bev LaVigne of Green Bay; brother, Bob of Powers; son, Joe (Sue) Patrick; grandsons, Joshua and Jacob of Schaffer; nieces, Suzanne (Jon) Mincheski of Green Bay, and Louanne Tourangeau of San Fransico; nephew, Bill LaVigne of Marquette; and several great nieces and nephews. Betty’s extended family includes Jennifer Hoffman and daughters Janna and Caitlyn of Carpentersville, Ill.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and son, Allan.
Blessed be the pure of heart.
