Barbara “Jean” Wallin, 79, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Christian Park Health Care Center with her family by her side.

She was born on January 21, 1940 in Escanaba, daughter of the late Nels and Margaret (Shiner) Ebbesen.  Jean grew up on her family farmstead in the Hyde area.  She lived in Escanaba most of her life.  Jean graduated from Escanaba High School in 1958 and following graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Green Bay and became a beautician.  She had her own business for many years.

Jean married Harold Wallin in February of 1961 and together shared a life together for 50 years.  She was a proud grandma and loved any time spent with her grandchildren and visiting with family.  Jean loved traveling throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Carribean.  She had many adventures with Harold.

She had a love of art and pursued her talent of painting and drawing her entire life.  Jean enjoyed playing the piano and singing.  She also taught her grandchildren to play.  She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and was very strong in her faith.  Jean had many lifelong friendships that were very dear to her.

10 Tributes to “Barbara “Jean” Jean Wallin”

  1. Our Prayers and thoughts to Crystal, Scott and family. Aunt Jean was a kind loving Aunt. I so enjoyed going to their home as kids. Aunt Jean let me go in her beauty shop. I loved looking at the wigs. She would play the piano for us too. Happy find memories of her and Uncle Harold. Love niece Debby McLin (Mattonen)

  2. I truly treasured my friendship with Jean. I’ve known Jean & Harold for over 20 years, but that doesn’t compare to the many friends that she has known since childhood who have stood by her side all these years. I always admired her artistic abilities which brought her so much pleasure. She was a loyal friend & a steadfast sister in our mutual faith. She often told me how thankful she was to have Crystal & Scott so close by because they made sure she had everything she needed, fixed anything that was broken or installed whatever safety items were necessary to make things easier for her. But her pride & joy were her grandchildren who she adored & was so very proud of each & everyone of them! Her eyes sparkled whenever she mentioned them! I will never forget my last visit as I watched Crystal tenderly care for her, gently washing her face, adjusting her position to make her more comfortable, making sure her hearing aids were in so she could hear Crystals reassuring words. A small tear formed in Jean’s eye & my heart melted as I knew she felt the love being shown to her. She certainly was dearly loved by her family & all her friends & she will be forever missed!!! Rest in peace my dear friend til we can cry tears of joy when we meet again in the resurrection!
