Barbara J. Benson, 70, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at U.P. Health Systems in Marquette. She had been a kidney transplant patient for 22 years thanks to her brother John Benson.

Barbara was an avid reader and had become a published author. She loved to write historical fiction and poems. She was also very artistic and enjoyed doing crochet and other crafts in her spare time. She came from a very musical family. When her brothers would play country music together, her beautiful face would light up and that’s when she was the happiest. She was also generous and would give to anyone who had a need, even though she really didn’t have a lot. She taught her daughters to help others and that giving is always more rewarding than receiving.
