Angela Marie Niemi

Angela Marie Niemi, 91, of Escanaba, passed away on Friday morning, August 23, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

She was born on May 25, 1928 to the late Arthur and Louise (Bouvier) King of Ewen.   Angela graduated from Ewen High School in 1946 and married Merlin Niemi on October 2, 1948 at the Sacred Heart Church in Ewen. He preceded her in death in 2015.

Angela was an active church member, a member of the Sacred Heart Ladies guild and a CCE teacher.  She loved to have family and friends stop to visit at the Niemi farm where she would fill the table with cookies, bars and her homemade bread.

She is survived by her five children, June (Greg) Hamilton of Farmington, NM, Paulette (Jim) Groos of Escanaba, Chris (Leianne) Niemi of Ironwood, MI, Marlene (Tim) Maki of Allyn, WA and Marilou (Dan) Cazzola of Iron Mountain; 11 grandchildren; Aaron and Morgan (Boyle) Maki, Cory Niemi, Jamie (Momber) and Cara Groos, Gina (MacLure) and Paul Hamilton, Jordan, Bridgette, Alex and Olivia Cazzola and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 27th from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba.  Parish prayers will conclude the visitation hour at 7 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday, August 28th at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church with Rev. Francis Dobrzesnki officiating.  A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen.

  1. Angela was such a kind, faith-filled lady. She is someone we could all emulate and use as a role-model! Your loss will be profound but now she is with Our Lord and with Merlin!
